The Frequently Asked Questions
This directory has been online since 2003, but everything started with Polseguera.com in June, 1999. We thought that a directory to help our visitors to find interesting resources and carefully arranged by categories could be of use.
This site is free for everybody, and has the user looking for information in mind. The webmaster should take this into account, and submit his or her site to the most appropriate category. It will be beneficial to everybody.
If you happen to know of any sites that you consider to be interesting to others, but they are not yours, write to us or feel free to submit them. If you have any comments or suggestions, do not hesitate to email us.
Please note that Polse.org is in three languages: English, Spanish and Catalan, and each language has different resources. Websites in Catalan or Spanish only must be added to the Catalan or Spanish section, respectively. 1. Question: How is the directory organised?
Answer: By categories and the most visited sites are displayed first. You can also make use of the search box.

2. Question: Can I pay to have my site listed first?
Answer: Sorry, but you can't. Nevertheless, you can at Polseguera.net: our commercial directory, or you can buy direct links so that your site is displayed in the right margin. Write to us for further information.

3. Question: My website is already in the directory. Do I need to submit it again?
Answer: Please do not submit it again. If you wish to modify it, make use of the option "Modify a resource". It is more advantageous to you. You can also write to us.

4. Question: Do websites have to be submitted manually?
Answer: We have noticed that some people use programs (submitters) to add their sites to our search engine. This seems useful, since you can submit your site to a lot of search engines and directories in one go. However, it is a big mistake, as most times they do not arrive correctly, which implies extra work for us, and of course we usually delete them. Besides, these programs are a thorough nuisance. If you would like your site to be successful, always send it to search engines manually.

5. Question: Are duplicates or mirror sites welcome in this directory?
Answer: We want everybody to have the same opportunities. We only accept the main page. We do not admit duplicates or mirror sites. None the less, if your site is in English, Catalan and Spanish, you can add it to the three databases, as they are independent.

6. Question: Can I exchange links with Polse.org?
Answer: Polse.org is not a link exchange directory. However, if you link to Polse.org, we can link back at Polseguera.com in the proper category.

7. Question: Is it free to submit a site to Polse.org?
Answer: Yes, it is absolutely free.

8. Question: Can webmasters submit link exchange directories?
Answer: If you have a directory to place three-way link exchanges, please do not submit it. If your site is a directory only, but you aim to offer interesting resources to others, it may be validated.

9. Question: Can I submit my site to several categories?
Answer: You can submit it to one category only. Choose the most appropriate.

10. Question: Are all the sites accepted in this directory?
Answer: If your site is not in the directory, is not under construction, has contents, and does not imply a duplicate, it will probably be validated. Please use capital letters only when necessary. Please note that we do not want imperialism, colonialism, xenophoby or violence (either legal or illegal). If we detect this, the website will be rejected.

11. Question: What do you do to combat spam?
Answer: Spammers will have their sites banned, so if you need to modify a resource, do not submit it again. Use the option intended for modifying it. Please note that banned sites will not be deleted if they are in the directory, but their webmasters will not be able to submit them again, although they will be able to modify the details. Please use the search box to check whether your site is already in the directory.

Answer: You can use our classifed ads. They are free.

14. Question: What happens if I submit my website to a category that is not related to what it offers or there is a better one?
Answer: We move it to the most related category, so if you cannot find it there, please use the search box to see if it has been validated in a different one.

15. Question: I submitted my site some time ago, but it was not validated
Answer: Please check if it is already in the directory, and if it is not, write to us. Your site might be banned. This happens when we detect that the details of a site are not correct and that the webmaster has used software. Please read the other questions too.
